Clogging of filter cloth can be regarded as an "invisible killer" of production efficiency. It not only reduces the filtration speed and increases energy consumption, but also may cause fluctuations in product quality. In fact, as long as these preventive measures are taken well, the filter cloth can always remain in a "transparent" state!

Choosing the right material is the foundation. Select the appropriate filter cloth material based on the characteristics of the filter medium (such as pH value, temperature, and particle size) : polypropylene material is preferred for acidic environments, polyester filter cloth is suitable for high-temperature working conditions, and multifilament woven filter cloth can be used for fine filtration. Choosing the wrong material not only makes it prone to clogging but also shortens the lifespan of the filter cloth.

Preprocessing cannot be omitted. Pre-treatment of the feed liquid before filtration can significantly reduce the burden on the filter cloth: when containing large particle impurities, it should first be filtered through a grid; for high-viscosity feed liquids, appropriate heating and dilution can be carried out; and for those containing colloidal substances, flocculants should be added to promote sedimentation. If the pretreatment is done well, the probability of clogging will be reduced by 60% directly!

Standardized operation is the key. During the filtration process, sudden pressure increase should be avoided. The pressure should be adjusted slowly to the working pressure. When a significant decrease in filtration rate is detected, stop the machine immediately for cleaning. Do not operate it while faulty. Before shutting down, first drain the material liquid completely, and then rinse the surface of the filter cloth in reverse with clean water to remove any remaining impurities.

Regular deep cleaning should be adhered to. Before each shift, check the surface of the filter cloth for any damage or scale. Conduct a deep cleaning once a week (depending on the working conditions, clean water, neutral detergent or ultrasonic cleaning can be selected), and replace the filter cloth of the vulnerable parts once a month. Developing the habit of regular maintenance can more than double the service life of the filter cloth.
