On May 21st, the Fourth Meeting of the Ninth Council Standing Committee of the China Textile Machinery Association was held in Beijing.
Xu Yingxin, Vice President of the China National Textile and Apparel Council; Wu Tong, from the Textile Division of the Consumer Goods Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; Gu Ping, President of the China Textile Machinery Association; Liu Song, Zhao Xiaogang, and Hou Xi, Vice Presidents; Cong Zheng, Secretary-General; Li Xueqing, Chief Engineer; and other industry leaders and representatives from relevant enterprises attended the event. The meeting summarized and reviewed the textile industry situation in 2025, the work of the Secretariat of the Textile Machinery Association, industry economic operation, technological development, and exhibitions. Discussions and exchanges were also held on the development trends of the textile industry in 2026 and the key tasks for the textile machinery industry.
The meeting was chaired by Gu Ping, President of the China Textile Machinery Association.
In his speech, Wu Tong, from the Textile Division of the Consumer Goods Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, pointed out that textile machinery is a key link connecting raw materials and manufacturing, and a crucial support determining the efficiency, quality, cost, and greening level of the industrial chain. In recent years, my country's textile machinery industry has developed rapidly, with a significant increase in the localization rate of equipment and a rapid rise in product exports. The China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA) is a national industry association that has always served as a vital link between the government and enterprises, and between the market and society. It is hoped that the association will continue to play a significant role in promoting the healthy development of the industry and serving national strategies. He expressed three hopes for the association: first, to remember its responsibilities and mission; second, to optimize industry services; and third, to strengthen government support. He believes that the CTMA will play a positive role in the modernization of industrial governance and become an important force in promoting the high-quality development of the industry.
Xu Yingxin, Vice President of the China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC), in his speech, systematically elaborated on the current economic operation of my country's textile industry and its development direction during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. He pointed out that in 2026, my country's textile industry achieved a generally stable start, characterized by overall stable production, moderate growth in domestic sales, coexisting export pressure and resilience, continued pressure on profitability, and a high-level decline in investment growth. At the same time, it is also important to recognize that the pressure to maintain stable operation throughout the year remains prominent, mainly due to the generally weak external demand and the complex and severe global trade situation. Looking to the future, to promote the high-quality development of a modern textile industry system, five key tasks must be prioritized: first, consolidating the foundation of a complete industrial system; second, improving the efficiency of independent innovation; third, driving the extension of industrial value; and fourth, coordinating domestic and international layouts, thereby promoting the sustained, healthy, and high-quality development of the textile industry. He pointed out that it is necessary to stay focused on goals, maintain confidence, take initiative, and seize opportunities to solidly advance the high-quality development of the textile industry. He noted that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the entire industry worked together with concerted efforts to continuously cultivate the path of high-quality development, constantly enhancing the influence and voice of my country's textile industry in the international supply chain, fulfilling its original aspirations with practical actions, and embarking on a new journey with tangible results, thus contributing to a good start for the 15th Five-Year Plan and jointly writing a new chapter in the high-quality development of the industry.
Cong Zheng, Secretary-General of the China Textile Machinery Association, stated that in 2025, against the backdrop of a complex and volatile external environment and a slow recovery in internal demand, the textile machinery industry demonstrated strong resilience and structural adjustment capabilities. At the meeting, he reviewed and summarized the development of the textile machinery industry since 2025 and the work done by the secretariat from seven aspects: the drafting of the "15th Five-Year Plan" for industry development, industry technology, industry standards, industry information and market, association's domestic and international exhibitions, association's own development, and Party building. Since 2025, the association has initiated the drafting of the "Guiding Opinions on the Development of the Textile Machinery Industry during the 15th Five-Year Plan," laying the groundwork for the industry's medium- and long-term high-quality development. In terms of technological innovation, the association organized the application for 17 projects under the China National Textile and Apparel Council's (CNTAC) Science and Technology Innovation Plan, completed the appraisal of 25 scientific and technological achievements, of which 23 reached the international advanced level, and several projects won the CNTAC Science and Technology Progress Award; it also held thematic science and technology conferences and released several technical reports, injecting momentum into the industry's transformation.
He stated that in terms of standards development, the Standardization Committee simultaneously promoted 18 national standards and 26 industry standards under research, and completed the approval of several standards and the release of group standards. Regarding information and market services, the association issued quarterly industry economic operation reports and held annual production and operation symposiums to help enterprises analyze the market. Furthermore, the association's own development and Party building work were deepened simultaneously, with Party building guiding industry development. Cong Zheng pointed out that in 2026, the association will focus on five key areas: completing the compilation and release of the 15th Five-Year Plan, successfully hosting the International Textile Machinery Exhibition, standardizing industry development through its branches, upgrading various services, and strengthening Party building leadership to safeguard the industry's steady and long-term development.
